It is Labor Day Weekend this weekend and thousands of Michigan folks will either be on the road or in the air for the big, last hurrah of a summer holiday.

It will probably be a tough, slow weekend of travel. However, there is some good news here. Gas prices have come down and should remain down through out the weekend. And, all the construction projects on the highways will be paused, and if possible, the traffic barrels will be moved off so all of us travelers can travel a little easier.

Fox17 reported that AAA says last year a gallon of gas was running around $3.81 and this year it's down to around $3.41. And, here in Grand Rapids it's even lower, down to around $3.32 according to Gas Buddy. The best price Gas Buddy is showing currently for Kent County is in Sparta at $3.15.

Yippee!!

Even airfare was pricing lower, even though it's a bit late to get those bargains with an airline.

If you are traveling on Michigan roads, the Governor announced that as of 3:00 p.m. Friday, many of the highway projects will cease and the orange barrels for lane restrictions will be sidelined so traffic will move ever so smoothly this weekend. How exciting!

Don't get too excited because they will return at 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday!

What is the key to travel well this weekend? LEAVE EARLY!

What is early? AAA says if you are leaving tomorrow try to leave before 11 a.m. because traffic will really heat up after that.
