Unhappy News: Someone Stole The Tip Jar from Happy Cat Cafe
It takes a real purr-petrator to swipe from cats in need! But that’s exactly what happened at Grand Rapids’ Happy Cat Cafe, where owners and employees are now feline the pinch as they work to replace stolen tips meant for helping furry friends in need—all thanks to a sneaky cat burglar.
What started as a typical Saturday morning at the Happy Cat Café quickly took a troubling turn when a person casually walked in and snatched a donation jar right off the counter. The jar, intended for Fig and Friends, a fostering agency partnered with the café, was taken while a barista’s back was turned, leaving both staff and patrons shocked.
In response to the theft, the café launched an online fundraiser aptly named “Refill the Tip Jar” to recover the stolen funds. The community quickly rallied behind the cause, raising $600 overnight. Donations for Fig and Friends will be accepted until August 10, giving supporters a chance to help make up for the loss.
The “Refill the Tip Jar” fundraiser has really shown how much the community paws-itively supports Happy Cat Café and Fig and Friends. There’s still time to purr-ticipate, with donations being accepted until August 10 to help those foster cats get the care they deserve.
