Popular Michigan State Park Closing At The End of Summer 2024
Michigan's state parks are some of our most popular tourist destinations. With spectacular views and hundreds of miles of coastline, there are so many places you can visit in our state that will absolutely take your breath away. However, one of Michigan's most beloved state parks is closing after this summer.
According to an announcement from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR), one popular state park will be closing after this summer to get a facelift.
Which Michigan State Park is Closing at the end of the 2024 summer season?
According to the Michigan DNR, Ludington State Park will be closed for nearly 10 months as planned renovations are slated to begin later this year.
They plan for the park to be closed from Sept. 3, 2024, so they can work on fixing and improving a few things.
Thanks to a $4 Million dollar funding grant, they will be able to pave the road to Hamlin Lake, as well as expanding the Lake Michigan parking. On top of that, some off season things will be getting a little extra love. They say they are planning to do upgrades to their warming shelters and traffic areas as well.
While the park will mostly be closed during the off season, they hope to have it back up and functioning by the middle of summer 2025, setting a date for the project to go through July 1, 2025.
It's exciting to see one of our state parks getting a little extra love, even if it means we have to stay away for nearly a year while they do it. If you want to keep up with the project as it's happening, you can visit their website.
