Parking Lot Problem: Michigan Shoppers Need To Pay Attention
How we shop at stores in Michigan has changed significantly over the years.
Did you ever think there would be services available where you could order all of your groceries online and then head to your favorite store to have someone load them into the back of your car?
Or that you could make all of your selections online, and then someone would do the shopping and drop them off at your front door?
I know I didn't, but I love the convenience.
With all the advances in technology aimed at making our lives easier, there is one aspect that has made grocery shopping more challenging: the parking lot problem.
Parking Lot Problem: Michigan Shoppers Need to Pay Attention
On a recent trip to the grocery store to gather ingredients for chili, I became frustrated with several different groups of people in the parking lot.
They seemed oblivious to their surroundings, moving through the space without regard for others.
While searching for a parking spot, I, along with other drivers, was slowed down by a couple walking down the middle of the parking lot.
This continued for about ten seconds until another driver honked their horn, startling the unaware couple.
They looked up and quickly moved aside to let the car pass.
Later, as I was leaving the store with my cart full of chili ingredients, I witnessed another woman walking slowly down the middle of the parking lot, her head buried in her phone while vehicles circled looking for parking spots.
I'm not suggesting that people should sprint through the parking lot every time they enter or exit a store, but we all need to be more mindful of our surroundings.
Additionally, while we're on the topic of shopper responsibilities, let's remember to return our shopping carts to the cart corral instead of leaving them scattered around like lazy jerks.
