In his statement, Tuttle emphasized the necessity of prioritizing his health after dealing with multiple injuries throughout his college career.
"This past year has been challenging... unfortunately, the recent experience of enduring my fifth concussion has brought forth the painful truth: that I need to start prioritizing my health"
Tuttle's college football career began at the University of Utah before he transferred to Indiana University, where he played for four seasons.
He joined Michigan in 2023 and contributed to the team's national championship victory as a backup quarterback.
Over his six seasons, Tuttle experienced significant injury setbacks, which affected his performance.
This season, he was named Michigan's starting quarterback but struggled with turnovers during games against Illinois and Washington.
In his retirement announcement, Tuttle expressed gratitude for his experiences in college football and acknowledged the support he received from coaches and teammates.
I feel bad for Tuttle having to retire from a sport that he loved so much, but he's making the right call.
