Who’s The Most Famous Person From Grand Rapids, Michigan?

Many people from Grand Rapids have become famous, but who is the most famous that you know of?

There are a lot of famous people who were either born or raised in the Grand Rapids area.

One of the most famous that I know of is Red Hot Chili Pepper singer Anthony Kiedis but I'm a rock guy so I'm supposed to know stuff like that.

Legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is from Grand Rapids and many other famous people like Andy Richter, El Debarge, Stacy Haiduk, and Taylor Lautner. Even though President Gerald R. Ford was born in Omaha, Nebraska, he was raised in Grand Rapids. I am barely scratching the surface of famous people from GR but let's find out what social media thinks.

Who Does Social Media Think is the Most Famous Person From Grand Rapids?

Pedro Camargo IV posted on the Grand Rapids Informed Facebook page the question, "Who's the most objectively famous person in Grand Rapids that you know of?" I learned about a lot more famous people from Grand Rapids than I ever knew came from here sifting through hundreds of posts on this thread.

I took the time to sift through every post and make a tally of who was the most famous according to social media in West Michigan. When you look at the thread above you will see some names you may have been thinking of.

After two pieces of this thread, you are probably starting to notice a few names that keep coming up.

After going through all these posts, there were a few names that kept coming up pretty consistently and those were Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, actors Taylor Lautner and Gillian Anderson, El DeBarge, boxer Floyd Mayweather, and President Gerald R. Ford. There were lots of famous people on the thread who were from Michigan but not the Grand Rapids area.

It was a slugfest between President Gerald R. Ford and legendary boxer Floyd Mayweather who got the most votes but in the end, President Gerald R. Ford who is the most famous person from Grand Rapids. Before anyone gets too technical, Ford was not born in Grand Rapids but moved here as a child and grew up here so if you have to be born here to be the most famous person from Grand Rapids, Floyd Mayweather would be the champ.
