Two Mitten State resorts are in the running for best places to stay in the U.S. in USA Today 10Best Polls.
Mackinac Island's Grand Hotel is up for "Best Destination Hotel in the U.S." Twenty finalists were picked by a panel of experts and now it's up to a public vote!
Here's USA Today's praise for the historic Michigan hotel,
Located on a small island off Michigan's Upper Peninsula, this summer resort predates the automobile boom. You won't find any cars on the island, as horse-drawn carriages are the primary mode of transportation. Individually designed accommodations include guest rooms and expansive suites, and activity offerings are abundant. The Victorian-era hotel also claims the world's longest porch.
