No stranger to national recognition, this restaurant was also recently crowned the most famous in Michigan.
The foodie publication's pick for the most unusual restaurant in the Mitten State is The Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth.

First founded as the Union House Hotel in 1888 by Theodore Fischer and later renamed “Fischer’s Hotel", It was purchased by the Zehnder family in the 1950s. They transformed it into Bavarian Inn, in honor of Frankenmuth's German heritage.
The Zehnders instituted the authentic Bavarian exterior-stucco walls, woodcarving, flower boxes, and German entrees served by “Bavarian” costumed servers that the restaurant is well-known for.
More than a restaurant, the Bavarian Inn is a whole complex! There's Emilie Eis Ice Cream and Candy Shop, stores, and a hotel. There are actually actually multiple restaurants too!
At the main Bavarian Inn, you'll find all-you-can-eat family-style meals, perhaps most famous being the Fried Chicken. The Bavarian Inn claims to have fed more than 20 million guests!
Oma's Restaurant serves generous portions of breakfast and lunch, featuring German entrées and continental cuisine.
At Michigan on Main Bar and Grill, there is outdoor seating and the restaurant focuses on seasonal specialties and locally grown products.

You find soup, salad, sandwiches and entrees like German Sausage and Lake Superior Whitefish.
There's also the Lorelei Lounge and Schnitzelbank Biergarten.
