New Authentic Mexican Restaurant Opens in Grand Rapids This Week
It's always sad to see a local restaurant close - the silver lining is when a new restaurant opens up in its place!
Last September we told you that after 25 years in business, Bombay Cuisine in Eastown was permanently closing.
We now know what's moving in!
El Cerrito, an authentic Mexican restaurant, is coming to 1400 Lake Dr. SE. in Eastown.
According to MLive, El Cerrito is owned by brothers Edgard Rocha, 27, and Juan Rocha, 24, who's family owns two other El Cerrito restaurants in Hillsdale and Coldwater, Mich.
The new restaurant's menu with be similar to the others, offering burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, and skirt steak.
According to Yelp, El Cerrito in Coldwater also serves appetizers like Carne Asada Fries, Guacamole and chips, Chorizo Con Queso and more. You'll also find Street Tacos, Nachos, and Soup and Salad. Entrees include Grilled Ribeye, Steak Milanesa, Pork Chops, Chimichangas, Grilled Chicken dishes, and Combination platters.
The restaurant will also serve a variety of alcoholic drinks.
Rocha tells MLive about opening up in Eastown,
It really has that community feel, and that’s what we really focused on trying to find: an area that has that feeling. When you have a business in a place like this, you become a part of the whole community. We just really loved the area, love the people here. Everyone seems to be really down-to-earth and welcoming.
El Cerrito opens Thursday, August 10, 2023.
The new restaurants hours are Monday through Thursday 11a.m to 10p.m., Friday and Saturday 11a.m. to 11p.m., and Sunday 11a.m to 8p.m.
