For decades now, children and families alike have been following the tradition of dressing up in the costume of their choice and hitting the sidewalks throughout town to collect as much candy as they can while showing off their creative costumes. For the most part, this tradition has not changed but there have been some new trends introduced to the spooky season.

One of those trends has been Trunk or Treat events, which take the premise of trick or treating but changing it to be more suitable for some children and parents. Some people genuinely love taking their kids trick or treating as they enjoy watching their children showcase their costumes, gather tons of candy, and looking at decorations, others don't think it's as safe.

Let's be honest here for a second, going up to a random stranger's home, ringing their doorbell, and asking for candy is something we're all warned against from a young age, except for Halloween night? That seems kind of weird, but nonetheless, I am here for trick or treating and may be going myself this year. Trunk or Treats are a great alternative to the traditional Halloween method.

Let me just say this before we get too far, I am not against Trunk or Treats, actually I would prefer a Trunk or Treat as there is a lot less walking, it's a safer place, and it's a way to get tons of candy in a short amount of time. Also, if you do Trunk or Treat events correctly, you will be able to visit multiple events and maximize your candy intake.

The whole point of this article was to point out that Trunk or Treat events have taken over the Halloween season and the art of Trick or Treating is slowly dying. If you have the opportunity and time to go Trick or Treating you should, BUT you absolutely should be taking advantage of the Trunk or Treat events in your area.
