A bizarre accident at a meat-packing plant in Ottawa County is being blamed on the death of a father of three originally from Guatemala.

MLive.com is reporting that It happened early Saturday morning while 49 year old Ricardo Ramos was cleaning a conveyor belt at the Hillshire Brands plant near Zeeland.

The Bil-Mar facility on 96th Avenue makes Jimmy Dean sausages.

While officials at the plant have given little information as to what happened, a co-worker of Ramos', who claims to have witnessed the incident, told Fox 17 News that it looked like Ramos may have gotten his arm caught in the machine while sanitizing it.

The Associated Press was also reporting that workers rushed to try to free him but were unable to do so.

The accident remains under investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Department which is awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine if a medical condition could have contributed to the death.

Ramos leaves behind three daughters, ages 10, 7 and 11 months.  The death occured just a day before his 7 year old's birthday.
