Only about a week ago temperatures around the state were still well below zero in many places around the state of Michigan. A good friend of mine that is also a farmer told me last week that it is common for fields to be getting planted in only ‘five weeks’. I laughed and said that’s not going to happen.

Then Bam! Without warning the punishing cold weather seemed to vanish almost overnight. We can all celebrate, at least for a bit because the punishing cold weather seems to have come to an end. My yard is almost free of snow just days after I left for work with temperatures at 12 below zero.

Maybe my friends will be in the fields by Mid-April. I could certainly say I was wrong and am ok with that.
