Recently I wrote an article about hobby shops. I visited Owosso and discovered that they have a legitimate hobby shop in town. I'm not talking about Wal Mart or Meijer toy aisles. Sure, you can get the materials and kits you need at the "big store" or you can support a local mom and pop type of location like Dean's in Owosso. Sadly, Dean's is closing their doors after many decades.

Now's the time to save money on model kits, accessories and more at Dean's. They have a kind staff and I'm sorry to see them close their doors. I've only visited Dean's once but it was worth the twenty minute visit. The fond memories that came rushing back to me from being a child were priceless.

The Hobby Horse was the name of the store I used to go to almost daily when I was growing up. They had all types of models, paints, glues and materials you need to build cool models. They also sold model train sets, remote control cars, matchbox cars and just about any type of toy that was popular at the time. I got my first Transformer there. Hobby shops are unique in that they only sell hobby materials and toys, you don't have to search a ton of aisles to find what you want. Hobby stores and their staffs are more specific and knowledgeable about the hobby products they sell and you'll find a wide variety of hobbies you can try for the first time or rekindle your admiration with a hobby you once loved.
