Here’s How Jackson is Honoring COVID-19 Workers
There have been a lot of front line workers who have made sure or are making sure that we can get through COVID-19 safely and Jackson is honoring them. According to WILX, Jackson has opened a new park and will be calling it Workers Memorial Park. The newly named park is located on South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between East Biddle and East Mason streets.
The Mayor of Jackson Derek Dobies said of the park naming,
“The name also supports frontline workers who are currently putting their lives at risk due to environmental hazards caused by COVID-19."
The Workers Memorial Park has playground equipment and basketball courts already in place on the MLK side but there is still a lot of green space open which will be developed. Development will happen once the city council votes and approves funding for developing the green space. You can see more about it here.
