As the saying goes, "If you talk the talk, you better walk the walk." Apparently one health official didn't get the memo on that one, and the world is calling her out.

Literally moments after the director of the county’s health department, Dr. Sara Cody warned Santa Clara County residents to avoid touching their faces to prevent contracting the coronavirus, she licked her finger to turn the page in her notes. Yes....really.

Just after uttering the words, “Today, start working on not touching your face — because one main way viruses spread is when you touch your own mouth, nose or eyes," she did exactly that. The video clip, of course, quickly went viral along with a slew of jokes to follow.

With the virus reaching a near pandemic state, public health officials are urging residents to wash their hands often and for 20 seconds each time, and as advised by Dr. Cody, to avoid touching their faces. On average, people touch their faces some 23 times per hour, according to the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC).

Her message was strong and important, unfortunately she wasn't walking the walk and will now forever be a parody and meme.
