Hang Ten on the Great Lakes: Surfing Lake Michigan [Video]

Clay Hatch loves surfing and he says Lake Michigan is a unique experience, unlike shredding on the ocean. Watch as he surfs South Haven.

We don't know if he loves the Beach Boys, but Clay Hatch, a student at Indiana University Northwest and a lifeguard at Indiana Dunes National Park, loves to surf. His YouTube channel is filled with incredible surfing videos from San Diego, San Clemete, Trestles, Saint Martin and Lake Michigan. Lots of Lake Michigan surfing videos.

Watch as he and a friend hit the beach at South Haven for three tubular sessions on June 13, 2019. The first outing didn't amount to as much as they had hoped and the second was cut short buy a broken board. Clay and Cole paddled out again later in the day and caught some great waves between the pier and the power plant in South Haven as you can see in the video below.

I know, you're thinking, "isn't it still cold in Lake Michigan?" Yes. The water temp was 64 degrees, but wetsuits allowed these guys to get out and have some fun and give us some great video.
