Governor Gretchen  Whitmer will be holding a press conference at 11 AM this morning. At that conference, the Governor and Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun will update everyone on Michigan's efforts to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

At her news conference last Friday, March 20, Governor Whitmer stated that she was not issuing issue a shelter-in-place order at that time. However, other governors across the country have begun issuing orders like this, and Governor Whitmer did not rule out taking this measure if necessary.

With her press conference today, unsubstantiated rumors have been circulating that Governor Whitmer will be following other states including Ohio and Illinois by issuing a shelter-in-pace or stay-at-home order.

According to WILX, Governor Whitmer has said over the past few days that she doesn't want to shut down Michigan and would prefer if stronger action came from the federal government rather than on a state-by-state basis.

We'll wait and see what the governor says at her press conference this morning at 11 AM and update you all as more information becomes available.
