Have you ever thought about owning an electric vehicle? I've thought about it, but I'm not so sure I'm ready to make that commitment.

However, I do know two people who own electric cars and they both absolutely love them.

According to the Detroit Free Press, General Motors is hiring thousands as it pushes to bring more than 20 new electric vehicles to U.S. roads by 2023.

GM will hire 3,000 engineers, designers and technology specialists between now and the end of the first quarter, and most of those people can work remotely.

I know this sounds crazy, but I don't know anything about electric cars. And another thing, if you're crossing the road somewhere, can you hear an electric car coming down the road?

Anyway, GM has said it envisions a future of zero emissions, zero crashes and zero congestion, which it will achieve through electric and autonomous vehicles.

Most of the hiring will be in production development and software engineering, but it's an enterprise wide approach so there will be people in IT and design and areas to help them integrate the customer experience as well. (Detroit Free Press)

I have a neighbor who lives across the street and he owns one of these electric cars. He really loves his car and it is a pretty sweet ride. I haven't had a chance to get a really good look at the vehicle yet, but I've been thinking about asking him if he will let me test drive it, to see what the buzz is all about!
