Former Michigan State basketball star Mateen Cleaves has been defending accusations and charges of rape, stemming from an incident at a Mundy Township motel in September of 2015. Today, The Detroit News is reporting that Genesee County Judge Cathy Dowd has dismissed sexual assault and rape charges filed against Cleaves, based on a lack of evidence that a crime was committed.

According to the report, Mundy Township police Sergeant Todd Johnson testified that he was one of the reporting officers to the incident in question at a Knights Inn on September 15, 2015. Johnson stated that the woman accusing Cleaves of wrongdoing told officers at the time of the incident that she was not the victim of any crime and that she and Cleaves "messed around" after she took her clothes off when they arrived at the motel room.
