Supporters of funding projects designed to help make sure invasive species do not spread throughout the Great Lakes are meeting with Congressional lawmakers this week. They are urging those in the U.S.House and Senate to continue supporting the "Great Lakes Restoration Initiative". Money from the program goes to help protect wildlife and clean up polluted industrial sites.

Invasive species like the Snakehead fish (pictured below--this one was found in Lake Michigan) are of special concern. Fish like this and the Asian Carp--among others--with large appetites and an aggressive nature are serious threats to other living things in the waterways.
