A suspected drunk driver escaped with only minor injuries after slamming into an Amtrak train in Owosso Thursday (1/3) evening.

Michigan State Police tell WNEM that the 33-year-old woman drove around the lowered railroad crossing gate near the intersection of Pittsburgh Road and Reed Road in Vernon Township.

The woman fled but was picked up by police about a mile away from the site of the crash. She was then transported to Hurley Medical Center.

None of the passengers on the Amtrak train were injured.

Hard to believe looking at these pictures from the crash scene that the woman driving the car sustained only minor injuries.
