Does Every Michigander Really Own This State-Shaped Item?
I feel like just about every Michigander owns some type of state-shaped item whether it's a bumper sticker or a bottle opener.
I don't actually own anything that's the shape of our great state but I do have a few items that have the mitten on it. Do you have anything in your house? If you can't think of anything, you might actually have this one and not even notice.
So, I came across this article on SimplyCodes about the popular state-shaped items each state owns in 2021.
I'm over here all excited to figure out what ours is because I thought it was going to be something relatively unique, ya know? Like maybe it's a Michigan shaped mirror or cutting board, I don't know. I just thought that it would be something other than what it was, an oven mitt.
Yeah, you read that correctly, apparently we love ourselves some oven mitts.
If you happen to like this Michigan oven mitt and you want to get a little crazy and buy yourself one, you can order it off of Amazon.
I feel like we totally got gypped on this one. How are you about to just forget about the other half of our state? You can't say that an oven mitt is our popular state-shaped item when they only represent the Lower Peninsula! Once again, everyone always forgets about the U.P.
I guess people are buying oven mitts that have a design of both the Lower and Upper Peninsula, but still, this is about the shape of the item and we're falling short here.
Like Illinois is over here with popular state shaped coffee tables and Massachusetts has keg art and we got OVEN MITTS!!!!!
I'm rolling my eyes so hard right now.
I don't even own a mitten shaped oven mitt, I just have the regular old square ones where my hand slides in the pocket. Ya know, like this one.
(Ignore the fact that mine has a tear on the left side. This isn't about me.)
Besides asking a Michigander if they happen to own a pair of Michigan-shaped oven mitts, here's a list of things you shouldn't even bother saying to us.
