The State Department of Natural Resources says the firearm deer hunting season was pretty safe--all things considered.  This year, one man was killed and three others were injured in accidental shootings.  Stats show the numbers have actually been declining in the last seven years as additional training has been required for those heading out into the woods.  Between 2007 and 2013, there were 121 firearm related hunting shootings.  16 of the victims died. DNR officials say while the numbers of accidents appear to be headed in the right direction, even one death of injury is too many.  The stress again to be trained on how to use the firearm and never hunt alone.  Some hunters perish because they become incapacitated and there is no one around to go for help or render assistance.
