September is National Suicide Prevention Month.

Former White House and Pentagon policy advisor, Congressman Michael Waltz, along with Garrett Cathcart, Veteran and Executive Director of veterans’ advocacy group Mission Roll Call, are leading up the “My Frontline to Yours.” The campaign is aimed at raising awareness on mental health issues and aiding in suicide prevention for veterans and all those frontline healthcare workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The campaign is also pushing for the US House to pass SB 785, which will expand veterans’ access to mental health services.

“From My Frontline to Yours” Suicide Prevention Campaign focuses on three goals. Remind Americans to check on family and friends and ask about their mental health during the pandemic. Find someone serving on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic and make sure they know about post-traumatic growth, which focuses on ways to heal after trauma.  Ask Congress to pass Senate Bill 785, which instructs the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense to improve mental health services for veterans – desperately needed during this time of isolation.
