Congressional Lawmakers to General Motors: Take Action A.S.A.P
U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal has sent a letter to General Motors C.E.O. Mary Barra. In it he says G.M. should issue a stronger warning to those who own 1.6 million recalled vehicles that have been determined to have ignition switch problems. It's being reported 12 have been killed. Blumenthal wants Barra to tell owners to stop driving them and provide loaner vehicles to those effected.
Blumenthal also says G.M. should set up a multi-billion dollar fund. The money would be used to compensate not only victims but owners as well.
Next Wednesday Barra will meet with U.S. House lawmakers who are taking part in an investigation.
