Classes were canceled on Wednesday October 2nd for Chelsea High School after a message warning there was a bomb in the school was found.

According to the Superintendent of the Chelsea School District, Julie Helber, the message was found by a custodian in a restroom earlier on Tuesday October 1st.

The Chelsea Police Department, as well as the Michigan State Police K-9 unit were called in to search the building. It was later confirmed that the building was safe and secure, and this was not a credible threat.

October 2nd, just so happens to also be count day, in which attendance is taken in, to measure how much the state aid helps the school. The district is saying they have sent in a waiver for an alternative count day.

If you happen to know anything about or related to the incident, the district is urging you to contact the Chelsea Police Department at 734-475-9122.
