Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks, the Civil Rights pioneer, and social activist, is best known for her refusing to give up her seat on the bus in 1955.

Her refusal helped to push the catalyst for the Montgomery, Alabama bus boycott.

Dubbed the "Mother of the Modern Civil Rights Movement," Rosa Parks is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit.

Sojourner Truth - Battle Creek

Sojourner Truth is best known as an abolitionist and women's rights activist.

David Ruffin

The legendary R&B singer, David Ruffin, was the lead singer of the Motown powerhouse group, "The Temptations."

He and his fellow group members were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.

Unfortunately, in 1991, David Ruffin passed away and is laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetary in Detroit.

Verne Troyer

The Michigan native is best known for his role as "Mini-Me" in the Austin Powers franchise. Besides that role, he was featured in Bubble Boy, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and the tv show, Scrubs.

Verne Taylor is buried in Leonidas Cemetery in St. Joseph County.

Marion "Marty" Marshall

The heavyweight boxer, known as "The Michigan Bomber," Marion "Marty" Marsahll was the first man to beat Sonny Liston in the boxing ring.

Marty later won 27 professional fights and only lost eight before he retired in 1957.

Sadly, Marty died in Detroit because of complications from Alzheimer's disease.

Edward Roy Patten

Born in Atlanta in 1939, Edward is most known as a member of Gladys Knight & the Pips.

The group ended up winning four Grammys and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996.

Unfortunately, Edward passed away after suffering from a stroke.

Bobby Debarge

Bobby Debarge was a pillar in the Motown legacy. He was the lead singer of the Funk/Soul group, Switch.

With hits like "I Call Your Name," "I Want To Be Closer," and "My Friend In the Sky," it makes sense why Switch was a success.

After Switch disbanded, Bobby joined the group, DeBarge with his siblings and two former members of Switch.

Bobby Debarge is laid to rest in Garfield Park Cemetary in Grand Rapids.

Stephen Gardner Champlin

Stephen was a Civil War Union Brigadier General. After the Civil War, he returned back to his home in Grand Rapids to recover.

Once recovered, he was placed in charge of the Draft Depot military recruitment and mustering office in Grand Rapids until he passed away in January 1864.

General Champlin is laid to rest at the Fulton Street Cemetary in Grand Rapids.

Gerald Ford & Betty Ford

Former President Gerald R. Ford was the 38th United State President, the 40th United States Vice President, and a U.S. Congressman.

He passed away in 2006. He and his wife, former First Lady Betty Ford, are laid to rest at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids.
