The Bissell Pet Foundation is on a nationwide mission the weekend  of October 6, to "Empty The Shelters".

The foundation has held a number of events in Michigan over the years to help find shelter pets their forever homes. Last October, the first national campaign was such a success (3,135 pets adopted last year) the Grand Rapids based non-profit is back at it again this year, covering all adoption fees at more than 90 shelters in 13 states.

In Michigan alone, there will be 56 shelters participating in the campaign. All adopted pets will be spayed or neutered. Additionally, the Bissell Pet Foundation will provide adopters with a leash, collar, and other wellness materials, while supplies last.

Locally, Ingham County Animal Shelter, Jackson County Animal Shelter, and Cascades Humane Society in Jackson will be participating. For full details on Empty The Shelters, visit this link to the Empty The Shelters webpage.
