Biggest Fake News Story Of All- So Far
Since January 6, 2017 The New York Times was selling the idea that all 17 American intelligence agencies had arrived at the same conclusion; Russia had interfered directly in the 2016 Presidential Election. The line was supported by then Director of National Intelligence James Clapper testifying before Congress who said time was of the essence and all 17 agencies agreed. The liberal national media attacked President Trump daily for not buying the narrative. He was peppered with questions and lambasted with insults for questioning the idea of Russian interference and even calling it a hoax in November 2016.
Then stunningly and with little fanfare, after fanning the flames of unanimous support for the Russian hacking narrative, The New York Times posted a retraction on June 29, 2017. Here is what the paper published at the end of another article loaded with one-sided reporting and attacks on Trump:
Correction: June 29, 2017
A White House Memo article on Monday about President Trump’s deflections and denials about Russia referred incorrectly to the source of an intelligence assessment that said Russia orchestrated hacking attacks during last year’s presidential election. The assessment was made by four intelligence agencies — the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Central Intelligence Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Security Agency. The assessment was not approved by all 17 organizations in the American intelligence community.
I cannot overstate the blatant disregard for honesty and actual pursuit of the truth in reporting. The Times and every other major paper has followed the story and used the nugget as a matter of fact. It was repeated by NBC, ABC, BBC, CBS, Boston Globe, LA Times, Associated Press and every other publication and news program you can name.
There were a few of us that questioned that narrative. Former House Intel Chair Pete Hoekstra was among those that said that was very unlikely. He pointed out and I have discussed numerous times since that agencies like the Coast Guard (yes that is one of the 17) would simply have no role in such an investigation. The truth is you cannot trust the American media anymore.
You have been fed a steady diet of lies on the whole Russia story. You’ve been lied to about collusion. You have been lied to about links to Donald Trump. You have been lied to about connections to his campaign. You have been lied to about what agencies actually investigated the story. You have been lied to over and over again.
The question that remains is who can you trust now when it comes to getting news?
