Battle Creek Police Warn of Bogus $100 Bills
Battle Creek Police are warning local businesses to be alert for counterfeit $100 bills.
Battle Creek Police Sgt. Chris Rabbitt says they are investigating multiple incidents in which a young woman has used counterfeit $100 bills to pay for merchandise.
The suspect in these incidents is described as a young, black female, possibly in her 20s. It is believed that she also has used similar counterfeit bills in the Albion and Marshall areas.
The counterfeit bills pass the marker test, and it appears that they are $10 bills that have been bleached and reprinted as $100 bills.
Police recommend that businesses educate employees about counterfeit bill identification, and do not rely on the marker alone.
