We all love to think of ourselves as the smartest of all. We know it all, we get it, and everyone else should be listening to our advice. But one city in Michigan can now claim the bragging rights of "most educated in America" thanks to the folks over at Wallethub.

Financial website Wallethub crunched the numbers to find which cities in America have the most educated people. To determine where the most educated Americans are choosing to settle down, WalletHub compared the 150 largest U.S. metropolitan statistical areas, or MSAs, across 11 key metrics. The data set ranges from the share of adults aged 25 and older with a bachelor’s degree or higher to the racial education gap to the quality of the public-school system

And you may find yourself thinking "who cares", it turns out there are a lot of reasons why having an educated population works out for everyone involved. It not only brings better job opportunities to the area, which means that the population has a higher earning potential, which in turn brings more money in.

What cities in Michigan made the list?

Five cities in Michigan were noteworthy enough to make Wallethub's list of most and least educated cities, and it seems like some smart cookies call the mitten state their home.

Lansing made the list at 30th thanks to their alumni from Michigan State University, Grand Rapids squeaked in at 64th place, Detroit wasn't far behind in 70th place, and Flint fell towards the bottom of the list at 127th.

Ann Arbor topped the list and won by a landslide based on the data gathered. The two biggest factors that were used to determine their winning title were how many people had degrees, and the quality of the degrees the people have, and it turns out lots of people have the University of Michigan to thank.

The high population of people who attend the university tend to stay in the area and improve it, unlike a lot of college towns around America. It's not just about college degrees, Ann Arbor also has the most citizens with high school degrees of any city surveyed.

The only downside we saw in the survey was the fact that the equity gap in education is one of the worst in the country. While Ann Arbor has a highly educated population, it tends to not be in the favor of minority citizens in the area.

Congratulations to the citizens of Ann Arbor for being smarty pants and gaining the bragging rights for smartest city in America.
