There wasn't much else to do during the pandemic so its not surprise that alcohol use went up in 2020 but the rise is mostly with women.

During the pandemic, it wasn't only guys who were hitting the bottle, but apparently women have been reaching out for the glass as much if not more than men have.

According to WOOD, there is a dangerous trend that has caught the eye of researchers and that is massive increase in alcohol use during the COVID-19 pandemic.

A survey was put together that involved 800 people by the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health discovered that 60% of those surveyed said that they were drinking more than before the pandemic had started.

Most all of those surveyed said the increase in stress levels is what drove them to the bottle but 45% of the 60% were women that turned more to alcohol to deal with the stress.

A lot of moms were working from home, providing daycare for their kids and in some cases becoming their teacher also, stress levels for women have gone way up. Many moms at the end of the day decided to blow off some steam after the kids went to bed, turned to booze to ease the tension and help get some sleep.

It wasn't just busy mom's that turned to drinking, in some cases many women were just bored and with nothing to do and a full liquor cabinet, many chose to drink to pass the time.

You may want to keep an eye on some of the people in your family who may be passing things up they would normally do in order to get some drinking in. You have to step in and remind them to maybe easy up on the drinking before it becomes a real problem.
