A new study shows how important "Detroit Metropolitan Airport" is to Michigan's economy. The facility is not only responsible for thousands of jobs. It's economic impact is significant. For example the report found every year on average when those who fly in to Metro go about their business or vacation in the state they end up spending about $1.7 billion on a wide range of goods and services. The "Detroit News" quotes the C.E.O for the Wayne County Airport Authority, Thomas Naughton who says "this translates to economic growth and business development that reaches far beyond our terminal walls and runways." The study was done by the Wayne County Airport authority and the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
