Ingham County Animal Control & Shelter is holding an event this weekend for Valentine's Day, discounting adoption fees on some of the dogs being housed there.

The Adopt-A-Bull Dogs event will take place Friday, February 14 and Saturday, February 15, encouraging county residents to adopt the shelter dogs that are all or part bully-breed. The discounted adoption rate of $20 includes a one-year dog license, microchip, current vaccinations, and all available pets will be spayed or neutered.

According to a press release from ICACS, the shelter receives approximately 1,200 dogs every year. Of those, 70 percent are pit bulls. Right now, there are 18 adoptable dogs in the shelter, 14 are bully breeds.

The shelter will be open from 10:30 AM to 5:00 PM both days for the event. Keep in mind, the shelter will adhere to its typical screening process for potential adopters. This includes authorization from landlords or leasing agencies for residents who rent their home.

This is just one of many events and programs geared toward finding forever homes for shelter pets. For more details on this event and other programs at the shelter, visit this link to their website.
