It was just about five years ago - Monday, June 22, 2015 to be exact - that a tornado ripped through Portland.

Of all the devastation this tornado left behind in Michigan, Portland seemed to get the worst end of it.

According to MLive, the tornado was an EF-1 with winds of 100 mph and 50 yards wide. It touched down two miles northwest of Portland at 2:30 in the afternoon and lasted for ten minutes. Finally, the funnel lifted up near Rite Aid on East Grand River Avenue.
