The Huron County sheriff's department is following the lead of many other departments across the country, they are surprising residents with gifts.

Sergeant James Hunt was phoned on Saturday and asked to visit an anonymous donors home to pick up $1000 donation.  The donor would like the money to be distributed to those in need "to help someone out and to brighten up their Christmas holidays."

The police department will give away 40, $100 bills to those in need in Bad Axe, Michigan by the end of Monday.  They have already given away $3000 to unsuspecting residents.

Kelly J. Hanson said, it's rewarding "to be in an association with thoughtful and caring individuals."
