West Michigan Pastor Found Dead

The search for a pastor, missing from a church in Stanton, came to a tragic end over the weekend.

The Grand Rapids Press is reporting that officials in Montcalm County pulled the body of Kurt Allen Hoffman out of a vehicle Sunday that had become submerged in Lampman Lake.

Hoffman, the pastor at Trinity Church, was reported missing on Saturday.

He was found the following day after someone reported seeing what looked like a vehicle in the water.  Officials speculate that Hoffman failed to negotiate a curve, hit a tree, then veered into the lake at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was pulled from about 6 feet of water, some 30 feet from the roadway.

An autopsy is being conducted to determine exact cause of death.
