The utility companies are warning just because the actual ice storm is over does not mean we don't have to worry about any more lines falling. Ice that formed on some over the weekend has come off and those are now free of any additional weight. But in other places that is not the case. The combination of the continued cold weather along with more snow has put added pressure on many of these lines that have already been stretched to very close to the breaking point. For those lines it would not take much for them to eventually snap and

end up on the ground as well. The warning from the utility companies: if you see a downed line stay at least 25 feet away from it and let them know.
