Students at the University of Michigan are holding an open house Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Jackson City Hall.  The event will be a presentation of new digital tools to assist Jackson residents developed by teams of students from the Ann Arbor university.

The School of Information at UM partnered with Jackson to develop eight projects over the fall semester.  Government offices and civic organizations worked with students to design tools to benefit the community.

The projects include:

  • tools to increase appreciation for historic structure preservation
  • assist with an open data policy within the city limits
  • allow access to information regarding blighted properties
  • make residents aware of the city's public art offerings
