Toxic Algae Concerns

Officials say more has to be done to make sure blue-green algae does no make its way into public water supplies. It's being reported at municipal water treatment plants there are no state or federal programs in place that look for algae. Algae are most often found in bodies of water but they have been known to grow in snow and even on ice. Small forms of algae can provide food for fish and other living things. However when an abundance of algae grows in an area

then these so-called algae blooms can become poisonous.
