As many of you know I am a huge music fan, especially the artist from the 70’s and 80’s. Well yesterday we lost one of my favorites, Tom Petty is dead at the age of 66.

Rolling Stone is reporting that Tom Petty suffered a full cardiac arrest and was found unconscious and not breathing in his Malibu home last night. The EMT’s did find a pulse and rushed him to UCLA Santa Monica Hospital and there he was put on life support.  His manager stated that he died in peace last night at 8:40 pm west coast time.

Tom Petty has now entered into The Great Wide Open as he titled his his 1991 album and song from that album.

Let me remind you of some of Tom Petty’s great songs such as:

  • "American Girl"
  • "Breakdown"
  • “Born to Rebel”
  • "Listen to Her Heart"
  • "I Need to Know"
  • "Refugee"
  • "Don't Do Me Like That"
  • "Even the Losers"
  • "Here Comes My Girl"
  • "The Waiting"
  • "You Got Lucky"
  • "Don't Come Around Here No More"
  • "I Won't Back Down"
  • "Runnin' Down a Dream"
  • "Free Fallin'
  • "Learning to Fly"
  • "Into the Great Wide Open"
  • "Mary Jane's Last Dance"

There are some people and song’s that remind us of our youth, Tom Petty was one of those artist and Breakdown was one of those songs that stayed with me.

Thanks Tom for making my youth a little bit rememberable.
