As many of us Michiganders know our state is an extraordinary place. There are 130 state parks, 11,028 inland lakes and thousands of miles of trails. There has been some talk about legislators putting a hand in the cookie jar of the Michigan’s Natural Resources Trust Fund (MNRFT) for fixing the roads.

Republican Representative Tom McMillin and Representative Greg MacMaster should be ashamed of themselves for even suggesting such a thing. What legislators need to do is create long-term goals for budgetary spending. Taking money away from the MNRFT is only a quick fix and it’s common theft.

The Trust Fund was created to preserve what we have come to know as, Pure Michigan. And to take from that fund to fix the roads is pure stupidity.
