It's cliche to say that sometimes Michigan's highways become skating rinks in winter, but that was never more true of Interstate 94 in Southwest Michigan today (Jan 22, 2019). The highway was literally a sheet of ice after a freezing rain event moved through the area.

Around Stevensville (Exits 22-23) first responders shared photos and videos of the slick roadways that causes dozens of accidents and long slow-downs.

One particular video has captured quite a bit of attention, it was shared by the Lincoln Township Firefighters and shows a member of the force skating across I-94.

Please avoid I94 WB @ the 23mm. Currently shutdown due to an accident.

That same trouble spot gave us these photos from the neighboring Baroda/Lake Township Police Department, who shared these photos.

I-94 is one of the worst roads in the state in winter, and just east of where this icing event took place, in Van Buren County is considered Michigan's worst winter road.
