Severe Storms Possible Overnight In Mid-Michigan

Here in Mid-Michigan, we have dodged some pretty hefty storms that moved just north of the Lansing Area over the last 48 hours. MLive.com reported Monday that severe storms came as close as Shiawassee and Genesee Counties Late Sunday and early Monday. Tornado sirens even went off around 1:00 AM in the small village of Gaines, southwest of Flint. Thousands were left without power north and west of Lansing due to storms, including Grand Rapids, Muskegon, and even as far east as the Saginaw Valley.

But, tonight, Mid-Michigan could see its fair share of heavy rain with the potential of high winds. MLive Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa says that even isolated, rain-wrapped tornadoes could be possible. And, given the predicted time of arrival for these storms, the night skies will make conditions even more dangerous. Any storms of this magnitude that may pop up would be virtually invisible.

The official forecast for Lansing from the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids calls for Showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10:00 PM tonight. Storms could be severe with heavy rainfall.
