Just in time for the holidays, a Satanic group from Detroit has been given permission to erect it's own type of "holiday display" at the State Capitol.   And the move is not sitting well with Conservatives. The Lansing State Journal is reporting that the display, which depicts a snake wrapped around the Satanic cross, it will be featured on the northeast lawn from Sunday through Tuesday.  The message on the cross reads, "The greatest gift is knowledge."

It's being called "Snaketivity Scene."

Members of the Detroit chapter of the Satanic Temple are defending the display saying it promotes discussion.

"Encouraging families to have important discussions and learn from each other and to spend the holidays promoting knowledge...is just something we think is important,
said Jex Blackmore.

The article indicates that Blackmore's phone number begins with the numbers 666, seen by some as a sign of the Devil.

The permission was given by the Michigan State Capitol Commission which says it must recognize everyone's First Amendment rights.

"Personally, I think this is absolutely repulsive and I'm very frustrated by it," said John Truscott, a member of the MSCC.

"I don't appreciate a group trying to hijack a Christian holiday."
