Love was in the air - literally - for 91 dogs who were flown in from Fresno, California to Ypsilanti yesterday.

The dogs, 80% of which are chihuahuas or chihuahua mixes, were plucked from over-crowded shelters on the west coast (most of which euthanize due to population control) and flown across the country yesterday and arrived at Willow Run Airport last night.

The non-profit group Wings of Rescue flew them in, free of charge.

The rescue says that there is a shortage of, but demand for, small dogs in the Detroit area, and that's why they brought the pups. The dogs were separated and sent to different Michigan rescues.
