The Michigan Public Service Commission says utility companies have got to do more to make sure tree branches are far enough away from utility lines. During the bad storm in December many ended up caked in ice or snow or both. When some got too heavy they broke and in some cases if they landed on a line the line would snap. Over a half million lost power at some point.

Utilities have been told to start working on the situation now and then later this year detail the progress that they made.
