New Michigan Poll An Outlier

The Denno Research poll showing Democrat Gary Peters now beating Republican Terri Lynn Land in the race to replace retiring U.S. Senator Carl Levin and Republican Governor Rick Snyder losing ground to Democrat Mark Schauer should be read with skepticism.

Real Clear Politics shows both Republicans leading. Land by nearly 3 points and Snyder with a more comfortable edge.

A quick review of Denno Research clients shows the company works almost exclusively for Democrats and Democratic organizations including the Michigan Democratic Party. In fact it doesn’t appear Denno Research ever works for Republicans or Republican causes.

The poll is an outlier and democrats would be well served to view this poll with a grain of salt. I would suggest to those on both sides that trust should be placed with those who have more substantial track records like Rasmussen and Epic MRA.

Of course those that rely too heavily on polling may find themselves with a lot of extra balloons come November.
