Never Ending Winter Takes its Toll on Spring Sports Programs

We'd have to go back to 1984 to find a colder spring and the result is pictured below:

Reports show the average temperature across much of the state in March has been around 35 degrees while the average low has been around 18. That combined with nearly a foot of new snow this month as well has made it virtually impossible for High School and College along with other spring sports programs to do much of anything outdoors.

To make things worse once the snow does melt the dirt infields and grass outfields will be very soggy and in some places awash with puddles. Those will take long enough to dry out but then when the spring rains start that will make for an additional mess.
