MLive.com reports Kaylee Lorincz, 18, spoke at the Michigan State Board of Trustees meeting Friday and announced this claim to the public, saying Engler made the offer in late March to her with her mother and a special counsel to the President in the room.

Lorincz's motivation to meet with Engler was "with the hope that if he actually met a survivor he might become more empathetic to what we're experiencing." Instead, Engler reportedly said "If I wrote you a check for $250,000 would you take it?".

In that meeting, Lorincz declined saying it was not about the money but about helping others. Engler's alleged response was: "well, give me a number."

Engler did not respond to the comment at the meeting and no official university statement has been made.
